From 3 to 8 to 13 to 21 to now 30 scholars. More mountains to be climbed. More servant leaders. Your 30 pesos. Our burning passion and great love... We are the sowers. We are the legacy. We move the world.
The activities that we have been doing individually and collectively are contributing to a movement of empowerment. This is the kind of revolution that we need: a revolution of volunteers who are responsive to the call of change, volunteers who are selfless and committed and who are willing to offer their talents, their gifts, their dreams, and even their pains and fears for goodness...
The vision is grand yet simple. It is idealistic but we are seeing it alive. We have started in 30 pesos, with few people, with facebook posts, with heartaches, with crazy ideas revealed in an hour of having coffee. sleepless nights and skipped holidays. We have started with undeniable impact. We started small and almost crushed. But we never stopped. Our history is unique and can be likened to how, sometimes, a disaster would give way to paradise. We are replicating. We are not afraid to grow. Our coming together has deep reasons, and all the more, our staying intact is meant to bring in much possibilities and priceless experiences. A million thanks to those who believe in long term projects, no matter how challenging and terrifying they can become. A million thanks to those who pushed us to be stronger, to be resilient survivors so as to preserve the vision, to be sowers, legacies and world movers. It is indeed a divine opportunity to be able to touch the future through sincere actions in the present. May we find more souls to journey with us through good times and bad times. The drive is love. The means is change. To those, to these and to all that will ever be, to God, the source of love and the ultimate love, be the glory...
Our scholarship program is long term and so, it requires commitment and needs all kinds of initiatives to make it more sustainable. We believe there are still so much that can happen to SLM with the help of the chapters that replicated the project to the other parts of the country. Sponsorship is not a new concept but the “Pledge 30 Campaign” continually surprises us. 30 pesos is really a small amount for others and it is not all the time that one’s 30 pesos can actually help a child for a month. We made helping something that can be done by anyone, anywhere.
Sustainability of this project requires leaders who are prepared and equipped with the mental, social, emotional and spiritual organizational demands that the journey towards our vision is calling for. For this to last, it has to let go of the concept of the ‘individual self’ and being so focused of the ‘had.’ It has to transcend from few souls to many souls and establish a system that can be passed on from one generation to the next.
It needs to build legacy and people who have been part of building such legacy should be very happy to see how SLM will move the world little by little. We need a revolution of people who think not only of themselves or of those in their circles, but also those whom they might not yet known or met; people who would turn their wounds into wisdom; people who give without expecting rewards or returns. We need a revolution of servant leaders, a revolution of people, both young and old, men and women and all gender, people from all walks of life, collaborating together and thinking and living by their legacies. We move the world by sowing dreams and more dreams, and leave legacies by inviting and inspiring others to share in the vision... There is power in 30. There is power in the movement.
